Throat Surgeries

Adenoidectomy

Adenoidectomy or adenoid removal is the surgical procedure to remove adenoid tissue. It is often recommended in cases of snoring, mouth breathing, recurrent attacks of cold and nasal obstruction usually in children sometimes seen in adults. An adenoidectomy is usually performed along with a tonsillectomy in most cases, under general anesthesia. It takes around 30 to 45 minutes to complete adenoidectomy, but if it is done along with tonsillectomy, the surgery may last longer. Adenoidectomy is effective to avoid recurrent sinus and ear infections and helps in normal breathing. Also, the coblation technique used for adenoidectomy ensures safer and complete removal of adenoid tissue with minimal bleeding and less pain.

Tonsillectomy

A surgery in which the tonsils are removed due to frequent episodes of tonsillitis, an infection of the tonsils. Tonsillectomy is commonly suggested as a treatment for recurrent throat infections, obstructive sleep apnea, and obstruction in breathing due to swollen tonsils. It is done under general anesthesia and takes around 30 to 45 minutes to complete the procedure. Tonsillectomy helps in reducing the frequency and severity of strep throat and other bacterial infections. When compared to traditional tonsillectomy, coblation tonsillectomy has many advantages such as faster and safer surgery with less pain that speeds up the recovery process with minimal post-operative risks.

Vocal cord Surgeries

Vocal cord surgeries are usually performed when there is a concern about abnormal growths on the vocal cords such as nodules, cysts, polyps, and tumors. They are usually done under general anesthesia and can be performed either by making an incision in the neck or with an endoscopic approach. The surgeries are performed to restore or improve the functionality of vocal cords.

FB Oerophgus/ Airway Removal

Foreign body airway can be managed by Oesophagoscopy, an endoscopic procedure, is considered the gold standard for the management of foreign bodies in the esophagus due to its high success rates.
Similar to this, there could also be some cases in which the foreign body ingestion obstructs the airways. Such cases can be managed by performing either rigid or flexible bronchoscopy. But, the ingestion of sharp objects makes it difficult to get them removed from the airways and needs expert care.
